Pittman Cave

Project Description:
Pittman Cave is a large, wet cave located on USFS land in Laclede County.  The main passage contains large well decorated stream passage that ends in a sump approximately 1/2 mile from the entrance.  Scuba divers have penetrated the sump a fair distance, but to date no air-filled passages have been found.  The cave also has a long side passage roughly 1/2 mile long.  Participants should plan for fairly wet (knee to waist deep water) conditions while in the cave. The MSS is cooperating with the Cave Research Research Foundation on this project and MSS members will be required to sign CRF-J.V.  forms to participate.   Trips are weather contingent and subject to re-scheduling.
