About The Author...
Jo Schaper, the person driven to construct this web page when none of the search engines on the Web turned up what she was looking for, has been a geology nut since age 6, and in love with Missouri Springs since 1969--no mean feat, considering she was 13 years old at the time. After a brief fling with a 50 page term paper on the large springs in high school, she largely abandoned their study until 1986, when she discovered that the
Missouri Speleological Survey existed, and there were other people as enamored of karst, caves and springs as she was.
Jo has a bachelor's degree in writing, and is currently working on a bachelor's in geology at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and is a member of entirely too many caving organizations. She is a Fellow of the National Speleological Society. Her writing credits include two books of poetry, numerous cave conservation articles and a geology column for THE OUTDOOR GUIDE--a sportsmen's newspaper. If you enjoyed this website, take a look at
