Files Report for July - September 2007

Kris Hartman stopped by and downloaded a fat file full of fabulous data: photos, locations, descriptions, etc. Kris does a fine job of organizing his data into folders on each cave and then keeps all the data for that cave in one virtual space. Works well! Kris also sent a location and photo of a new cave in Madison County , not far from the St. Francis River. And Kris has sent in photos and descriptions of a new discovery in Ste. Genevieve County.

Eric Hertzler sent in two maps of features in Camden County: Well Drillers Cave, and Hahatonka Natural Bridge. Eric also sent locations for four new caves in Camden County. And he followed that up with a map of Road Cut Cave in Camden County.

Roy Gold sent in a pile of location improvements from Wright, Christian, Stone, and Taney Counties . And then he followed it up with more from Barry and Taney. And at the end of the month he sent some locations from caves at the Narrows in Pulaski County. That’s an area that needs further sorting out.

Norman Youngstead (remember him?) sent information on a cave he had visited before in Christian County . He couldn’t relocate it but did find another which we think was already known. We’ll add the other to the do list…

Lynda Mills of the USFS sent six location improvements and a new cave, all from the Courtois and Brazil Creeks area of Crawford and Washington County .

Bob Gillespie of MDC sent information on a cave and sinkhole area in Ste. Genevieve County where he has been working with a landowner. He followed that up with an improved (GPS) location. Bob also sent information on a new entrance in Perry County that he visited with Phil Moss.

Tom Panian sent a Joe Sikorski report on a new Pioneer Forest cave in Shannon County . Tom also sent a lengthy progress report on the Pioneer Forest project with lots of interesting details.

Jon Beard sent a location for a new cave in Greene County and an improved location for Math Branch Cave in Christian County . Jon and Bob Taylor sent information on Gentry Cave in Stone County .

Tony Schmitt sent nice maps of two caves on Pioneer Forest land in Shannon County.

Ken Grush, who caved with Jim Zollwegg and SLUG thirty years ago, sent a pile of information that he had on caves in the Truman Lake area and other information. It will take me a while to sort through this all but it is great to get.  Ken hopes to retire back to Missouri soon and get back into locating and reporting caves. Do we need a moving party?

As usual, apologies to those folks whom I have forgotten or overlooked. Right now material is coming in piles and having been gone for a month on vacation, I’m behind as usual…
